Goal

test new functionality added since M2
verify that severe bugs are correctly fixed
sanity check performance

Test New Functionality

First test all those items where you are listed as first tester.

Improved textual editor font configuration (Markus, Deepak - Questions: Dani)

Several improvements have been made to ease the font configuration of textual editors. Verify that the following features work:

all editor preference pages in the SDK have a link to the 'Colors and Fonts' preference page
verify that those links open the page and select the correct font
verify that those links have the same wording
verify with various keywords that the 'Colors and Fonts' preference page is shown
on the 'Colors and Fonts' preference page verify that the filtering works in a usable way
test the two new buttons on the 'Colors and Fonts' preference page
all editor preference pages in the SDK have a link to the 'Text Editors' preference page
verify that those links have the same wording

Remove/delete in Call Hierarchy (Raksha, Markus - Questions: Dani)

verify that the 'Delete' key only removes the element from the view
verify that 'Remove from View' is in the context menu and works
verify that 'Cut' and 'Delete' are not in the context menu

JUnit result comparison dialog updating (Raksha, Deepak - Questions: Dani)

verify that the dialog updates when another test is selected
verify that the test name is updated in the dialog when another test is selected

New compiler option to honor 'assert' in null analysis (Markus, Rajesh - Questions: Dani, Ayush)

verify that the UI is correct
verify that changing the workspace preference works
verify that changing the project specific option works

Improved Quick Fix support in Problems view (Deepak, Markus - Questions: Dani)

verify that the quick fix icons are correctly shown in the Problems view
verify that quick fix works for single selection
verify that quick fix works for multi-selection selection
verify that quick fix is not available if only non quick-fixable problems are selected
verify in the Quick Fix dialog that the quick fixes show the correct icon
verify in the Quick Fix dialog that the button enablement is correct

New Javadoc compiler option to ignore missing @param tags for method type parameters (Raksha, Rajesh - Questions: Markus)

verify that changing the workspace preference works
verify that changing the project specific option works
verify that other missing tags are still reported

Paste Link to XML test results into JUnit view (Deepak, Rajesh - Questions: Markus)

Multi-field declarations keep initializers and annotations (Dani, Deepak - Questions: Markus)

try to break code that changes modifiers in multi-field declarations (quick fixes, refactorings where the moved code references fields that need to be made more visible)

Configure default workspace for PDE JUnit launch configurations (Raksha, Dani - Questions: Markus)

select Preferences > Plug-in Development > Create workspaces inside this folder
create multiple new PDE JUnit launch configurations and run them in parallel
verify that each launch config gets its own workspace and configuration area, even if you rename the config right after creating it
verify that the default setting still shows a dialog when you try to launch a second plug-in test

Whitespace rendering (Rajesh, Raksha - Questions: Deepak)

test the new preference options in plain text, Java, and other editors (bug 257313, bug 172018)
test the new preference options in compare editors
look out for screen cheese (partial redraws) when scrolling lines and when switching editors (bug 326905)

test that the action supports Javadoc references with parameter list (bug 325239)

test that the properties file editor auto-converts typed and pasted non ISO-8859-1 characters (bug 65571)
test that the properties file editor shows a hover if the underlying string contains some special characters (\uxxx,\t,\n etc) (bug 328223)
verify that the hover shows the real string and preserves whitespace (bug 65571, bug 328198)
verify that the Externalize Strings wizard behaves correctly (bug 268525, bug 328233)

test that Auto-indentation happens correctly for continuation scenarios described in the bug (bug 65317)

Outline View (Deepak, Raksha - Questions: Rajesh)

test that the 'Collapse All' action in Java Outline view works correctly (bug 41092)
test that after selecting one or more elements from Outline view, selecting Source >> Format Element in main menu formats those elements only (bug 86576)
test that opening a Read-only file and doing the above leads to a dialog asking the user to make the file writable (bug 86576)
test that making an already open file Read-only and doing the above leads to a dialog asking the user to make the file writable (bug 86576)

Type Hierarchy (Rajesh, Dani - Questions: Raksha)

test that 'Open Type Hierarchy' works on logical packages (bug 325812)
test the improved label rendering in Type Hierarchy (bug 325258)
test the improved label in history dropdown for Multi-select Java elements and show in Type Hierarchy (bug 325250, bug 325408)

Pin Call Hierarchy (Markus, Deepak - Questions: Raksha)

test that 'Pin Call Hierarchy' is added to the Call Hierarchy view (bug 304135)
test that the new input is shown in the last active view which is unpinned
test that the history is uniform across the different call hierarchy views and allows to switch between entries
test that 'Clear History' clears and updates all views and pin view action is still enabled with no input

Open Return and Declared Types (Rajesh, Deepak - Questions: Raksha)

test that the new hyperlinks 'Open Declared Type' and 'Open Return Type' are added for variables and methods respectively (bug 88434)
test that the Open Declared Type' works for local variables and fields at all positions in the code (ex: return statement, invocations, parameters etc)
test that an Open Return Type works for all methods except constructors and for declaration, invocation and super method invocation
test that hyperlinks work for parameterized and array types
test that an error is shown for primitive or invalid types in the status line

Call Hierarchy (Rajesh, Dani - Questions: Raksha)

test that there is no "widget is disposed" error when view is closed (bug 325752)
test that the view title gets bold when the input changes for a hidden view (bug 328315)
