Announcements and General Business
- EclipseCon Disucssion: any push back for WTP Uncovered
Tutorial?
While not literally PMC business, discussed the Raghu and Neil. It was felt reducing time would substantially change nature of the tutorial, especially since there are "new" things to cover, such as Java EE 6, JPA 2.0, JSF 2.0.
- Like new logo?
Rather than "yes/no", Raghu had suggestions for improvement! Naci volunteered that he'd consider, and by next week propose a plan. For at least web page WTP logo (perhaps Java IDE Intro page too?).
Naci was not all call. It was thought some improvement needed, if widespread use expected.
- TODO: create "works with" CQs (Instead of all at once, I'll do
a few this week, to confirm, then others)
I have opened our "test" case to see IP Staff's reaction. Please see (and/or comment on) CQ 3694
See "3rd party" section of last year's IP Log for areas we need to cover:
- Application Servers
- Java Persistence Frameworks
- JSF Runtimes and Component Libraries
- Axis2 Runtimes
- XDoclet
- ICU: we'll probably skip this one. I don't think anyone else lists it. Should be an "exempt pre-req" for everyone.
For reference, see the Board Resolution.
- Should we, as PMC, discuss bug
298906?
Discussed some. Sounded like mixed version project compatibility was important for some known adopters. After meeting, a reference was found to old plan requirement was first expressed. Apparently we have not stated since.
TODO: current plan (and previous one) left the "compatibility" section blank. We should fill in, so expectations are clear.
- A newly proposed, interesting, possbily "web tools" related,
project: Virgo.
Tim pointed out the "WTP and PDE" comments. This would be a good time to fix our charter, so its clear to not exclude such work.
- Any discussion around XQuery
"Adapters"?
Not much expertise on PMC, apparently. No discussion.
- New year resolutions?
There is a need, and interest!, to discuss high level, big picture aspects of the WTP project. We'll schedule that for next week, to give PMC Members time to think about it, and time to plan what things they can volunteer for. Some possible items mentioned were:
- API, stability
- scope? osgi spec's?
- more "press"? as it is popular
- Continuous Improvement Notes
We'll have next agenda too.
