Announcements and General Business
- Possible patch to webtools repository
Heads up for bug 321529. May want to provide on general update site ... if we think many people in community run "reduced install". I'm trying to prepare patch build for it, but will wait for Nitin to propose (and bring forward for PMC approval) before putting on common site.
- WTP Incubator proposal
Discuss New WTP incubator proposal. (Kaloyan)
We all agreed it was well within scope of WTP and WTP Incubator Project. When graduates, part of it would go to webservices project, part would go to source editing project. There were many questions about if the functionality should or could be more tightly integrated with existing WTP editors ... or, if should be fairly seperate. We concluded we didn't know, and would leave that up to committers and community to discuss and work out in months ahead. Currently there are 5 committers listed in proposal. Kaloyan will double check to make sure all 5 are intended to be actual committers ... or if only a couple should be and others contribute occasionally (either way is fine, but wanted confirmation before asking EMO to do the paperwork, etc. When graducates, only those active would "transfer" to source editing or webservices project, as always).
- Dali JAXB Plans
Discuss Dali's JAXB plans. (Neil) (see bug 320032) for cvs rename and bugzilla additions.
Neil gave overview of JAXB plans. We discussed question of "scope". While original Dali proposal was very JPA specific, we agreed "Java Persistence" in general was within WTP scope so conceptually should not be a problem, but if anyone ever asks, we might need to document better (e.g. in a re-rewrite of WTP Charter, when we do that). Since JAXB is often used in "webservices", we'll also want to make sure plans are well reviewed by webservices team. Neil provide this link to Dali meeting mintues that describes function and issues in a little more detail.
Future Agenda items
- Retrospect Helios quick maintenance release. Does it mean we weren't ready to release? Any way to improve timing in future?
- Disuss our model and assignments of "PMC Roles". Do they still make sense?
