Publishers

Features for Publishers

To remain competitive in today’s market, publishers must be certain that their materials’ reading level is meeting their respective target audiences. If articles are written with overly long sentences and unnecessarily complex words, then perspective readers are going to lose interest very quickly. With Readability Studio, you have the tools to determine the reading level of your articles, as well as tools to make them easier to read.

Goals

Goals, such as minimum word count or a maximum reading level, can be added to your project. This can enforce quality control on your documents to ensure they meet submission guidelines.

Grammar tools

Along with readability tests, grammar checks are also available, such as misspellings, double words, and clichés. These issues are shown highlighted in your document for easy review. They are also aggregated into sortable lists to give a general overview of any problems in the document.

Document highlighting

Difficult words and sentences are also shown highlighted in their original context. This is useful in finding “trouble spots” in your document.

Test guidance

In-depth explanations for each test is provided. Test results include an interpretation of the score and the factors that affect it.

Visualizations

Numerous graphs are provided to help present your results. This includes graphical tests (e.g., Fry and Raygor), as well as a bar charts, box plots, heat maps, and word clouds to visualize word and sentence statistics.

Detailed statistics

Numerous sentence and word statistics are provided.

Difficult words & sentences

Lists of difficult words and sentences are broken down by category and can be searched, sorted, printed, and exported. A separate list for each type of difficult word (e.g., 3+ syllables) is included, as well as a list of overly-long sentences.

Flexibility

Many options, such as how documents are analyzed and how the results are displayed, are customizable.

Document support

Numerous document types are supported, including Microsoft® Word, Microsoft® PowerPoint, OpenOffice, HTML, RTF, text files, and more.
